It is exciting to be starting another choir year, our fifth in fact! Welcome back returning members and welcome new members. We hope that you have a great time singing and making music with new and old friends this year. Our accompanist is Cheryl Minkoff and our vocal coach is Claire Singer. Writing this is Susan Shantora, the conductor of the group. We, the music staff, are looking forward to working with and getting to know each and every one of you.
We are making plans to tour in 2019. The details are still being worked out but we will have some details for you soon. Those of you who did fundraising last year, your money has been saved and will be used towards your trip in 2019. For those of you who are planning on going on the trip, there will be several fundraising options during the year.
The trip is optional but everyone is encouraged to consider it as a possibility.
There is a choir handbook now - one of my summer projects! The choir will be looking for a volunteer commitment from all families as well as an attendance requirement for all singers. The Board has also implemented a uniform caution fee to ensure that uniforms come back to the choir each year. Also you will be asked to sign a waiver for photos, videos and singer well-being. Parents, please look over these documents carefully to be sure that you are aware of the commitment.
We will be sizing uniforms on September 30. Please be prepared to try on the choir dresses and scarves. If you have a uniform at home, please remember to bring it in.
Uniforms will only be released when a post-dated cheque (dated for June 30, 2019) is presented. Cheques will be held until the end of the year. If the uniform is returned the cheque will be returned. Uniforms are due back to the choir by June 30, 2019.
